School-aged children are obliged to attend school under the School Basic Law, so even if they choose and practice alternative education and homeschooling, children are enrolled in Ichijo School. School refusal students are also enrolled students.
It seems that alternative school students and homeschoolers think that it is equivalent to a grace or exemption from school attendance, and that they should be certified as a junior high school graduate, but this is a common misconception. Currently, there is no system to distinguish the enrollment of students studying at Ichijo School from those of Manabu students based on other educational opportunities.

The junior high school graduation certification test is for children who have been deferred or exempted from the obligation of their parents to enroll in compulsory education schools due to unavoidable reasons such as illness according to the provisions of Article 18 of the School Education Law.
